Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Bakery Assistant Department Manager to help oversee daily bakery production, lead the team, and ensure cases are stocked with the best product. You will partner with the Bakery Department Manager to drive results and uphold Hy-Vee standards.

You will train staff, assign tasks, and step in for the Department Manager when needed, while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and outstanding customer service throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1–3 years bakery/retail experience.
• Experience leading a bakery or food-service team preferred.
• Ability to manage production schedules and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and resolve concerns promptly.
• Oversee daily bakery production and schedule tasks.
• Train new employees and develop bakery team.
• Assign duties and coordinate with department staff.
• Maintain freshness, rotation, and display standards.
