Job summary

Kroger's Bakery/Deli department is seeking a Grocery Clerk to deliver outstanding customer service while preparing bakery items to order. You will follow safety guidelines and maintain clean, inviting displays to encourage repeat visits.

You will work with department managers to achieve sales goals, stock, label, and rotate inventory, and respond to customer inquiries about products. Strong communication and math skills are valued.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using utensils and equipment.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Notify management of accidents and potential safety concerns.
• Work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environments.
