Job summary

This role focuses on helping customers, preparing bakery items, slicing deli products, and participating in inventory and safety

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome by answering questions about store products.
• Gain knowledge of department products and suggest appropriate items.
• Slice deli meats and cheeses to customer requests using proper deli equipment.
• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of deli/bakery/bistro specials.
• Provide fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli/bakery/bistro items to meet customer needs.
• Use refrigeration, freezers, slicers, ovens per company guidelines.
• Prepare food to company standards.
• Package, label and inventory ingredients properly.
• Check product quality and sell-by dates; take action as needed.
• Operate kitchen equipment (stove, fryer, steamer, etc.).
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures in cases/cooled areas.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and safety risks.
