Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a safe, clean environment in-store. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales goals, inform customers about specials, and help ensure product quality and proper temperatures across bakery and deli sections.

The role emphasizes customer engagement, accurate order fulfillment, and adherence to food safety guidelines in a fast-paced retail setting.

Ability to obtain current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
Inform customers of bakery/deli specials.
Provide customers with fresh products ordered and correct portion sizes.
Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to guidelines.
Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
Measure, mix ingredients with utensils and equipment.
Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
Understand store layout to locate products on request.
Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions.
