Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Indianapolis, Indiana, is seeking a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to create an outstanding customer experience. You will assist customers, prepare bakery items, stock merchandise, and ensure food safety and quality across the bakery and deli sections.

You will work under the department manager to meet sales and quality goals, maintain clean environments, and help customers find products.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills required.

• Knowledge of basic math required.
• Ability to obtain current food handler's permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery/deli specials and promotions.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to meet customer needs.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, mix ingredients with required utensils.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Check product quality and sell-by dates and take action.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and log temps.
• Answer customer questions about products and locate items in store.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions.
