DELI COMBO CLERK

PURPOSE STATEMENT: To maximize sales and profit in the Bakery and Deli Department through courteous customer service while maintaining optimal department conditions.

SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products.
2. Bake bakery items such as breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries.
3. Wrap, package, and sell bakery and deli products.
4. Record customer orders accurately for cakes and bakery items.
5. Process customer purchases quickly using electronic register, scanner, and scale.
6. Review the communication board daily for updates and follow posted guidelines.
7. Prepare and organize the cooler/freezer area, verify deliveries, inspect for damage, and code date items.
8. Adhere to health codes and clean the department regularly.
9. Transport and stock merchandise, check product code and freshness, and rotate displays.
10. Ensure safety by following store safety rules and reporting hazards.
11. Operate equipment like balers, slicers, and fryers safely (must be 18+ for certain equipment).
12. Evaluate product quality, reprocess or markdown damaged items.
13. Monitor and record temperature checks four times daily.
14. Replenish inventory and perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Supervision: Reports to Bakery Deli Manager.

Qualifications:

• Basic math skills and ability to count.
• Ability to give and receive complex verbal instructions.
• Stable work and educational history.
• Ability to read and write English, understand instructions, labels, and reports.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous related job experience.
• Experience operating equipment like slicers, fryers, and cash registers (must be 18+).

Tasks of the Job: The role involves mobility, lifting up to 50 lbs, working on tile or concrete for up to 8 hours, reaching and handling products, operating equipment, and maintaining safety and cleanliness standards.

Work Environment: Inside with temperature variations, dust, and humidity.
