Position: DELI COMBO CLERK

PURPOSE STATEMENT

To maximize sales and profit in the Bakery and Deli Department through courteous customer service while maintaining optimal department conditions.

SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions regarding products and store services.
2. Bake products including breads, cakes, pastries, and more.
3. Wrap, package, and sell bakery and deli items.
4. Accurately record customer orders for cakes and bakery items.
5. Process transactions quickly and accurately using electronic equipment.
6. Review communication boards daily for updates and follow guidelines for sampling and announcements.
7. Prepare and organize the cooler/freezer area, verify deliveries, inspect for damages, and stock products.
8. Adhere to health codes and maintain cleanliness of the department.
9. Transport and stock merchandise, check product dates, and rotate stock appropriately.
10. Ensure safety by following store safety rules and promptly reporting hazards.
11. Operate equipment such as slicers, scales, ovens, and other machinery safely (must be 18+ for certain equipment).
12. Evaluate product quality, handle damaged or unsalable items, and adjust pricing as needed.
13. Monitor and record temperatures of coolers and freezers four times daily.
14. Report out-of-stock conditions to management.
15. Replenish and stock display cases and shelves throughout the store.
16. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned to support store operations and customer service.

Supervision

Reports directly to the Bakery Deli Manager.

Qualifications

Required

• Basic math skills and ability to count.
• Ability to give and receive complex verbal instructions.
• Stable work and educational history.
• Ability to read and write in English, including instructions, labels, and reports.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in related jobs.
• Experience operating equipment such as slicers, scales, cash registers, etc. (must be 18+ for certain machinery).
