Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  • Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to meet their needs.
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
  • Follow food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
  • Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take necessary actions.
  • Use kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc., properly.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping.
  • Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
  • Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and ads.
  • Maintain knowledge of department products to assist and make suggestions to customers.
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers and promote trust among staff.
  • Adhere to all food safety and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
  • Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts professionally and ethically.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  • Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
