Bakery/Deli Clerk (Finance)

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Customer Service skills

  • Ability to obtain current food handlers permit once employed

Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness, review 'sell by' dates, and take appropriate action.
  • Use kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc., properly.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand the store's layout and locate products when requested by customers.
  • Stay current with advertisements and store promotions.
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions.
  • Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making suggestions.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  • Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
  • Report customer or employee accidents.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist with interactions involving minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Salary Range: $19.25 - $25.35
