Bakery/Deli Clerk (Finance)

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Customer Service skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to obtain current food handlers permit once employed

Desired Previous Job Experience:

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
  2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  4. Provide customers with ordered products, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
  5. Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to meet their needs.
  6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
  7. Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
  10. Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
  11. Operate kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robots safely.
  12. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  13. Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
  14. Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
  15. Stay current with ads and promotions.
  16. Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.
  17. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  18. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
  19. Create a welcoming environment for customers and promote trust among staff.
  20. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  21. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and report them.
  22. Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
  23. Report customer or employee accidents.
  24. Work cooperatively in high-paced or stressful environments.
  25. Manage conflicts non-confrontationally and cooperatively.
  26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  27. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  28. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Salary Range: $17.50 - $25.35
