Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with ordered products, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
- Follow food safety and temperature logs, prepare foods according to instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Package, label, and inventory ingredients and products.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping.
- Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
- Stay updated on current, seasonal, and promotional ads.
- Maintain knowledge of products and assist customers with questions and suggestions.
- Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, keeping logs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
- Inspect equipment, practice preventive maintenance, and report repairs.
- Notify management of accidents or unsafe conditions.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, manage conflicts, act with integrity, follow directions, and support diverse customer needs.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to obtain a food handlers permit upon employment
