Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
5. Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
6. Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
7. Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
10. Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
12. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
13. Understand the store's layout and locate products upon customer request.
14. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
15. Gain and maintain product knowledge within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.
16. Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
18. Promote trust and respect among associates.
19. Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products.
20. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
21. Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
22. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
23. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
24. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
25. Manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
27. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
28. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications
