Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend bakery or deli items to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using various utensils and equipment.
- Properly package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality, review 'sell by' dates, and take appropriate actions.
- Use kitchen equipment properly, including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and food processors.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise accurately.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the manager.
- Understand store layout to locate products efficiently for customer requests.
- Stay current with store promotions and seasonal ads.
- Maintain product knowledge and respond to customer questions with suggestions.
- Monitor inventory conditions and report discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers, keeping logs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers and foster trust among associates.
- Adhere to all food safety and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents promptly.
- Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to obtain a food handler’s permit upon employment
