Responsibilities:
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Properly prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality, review 'sell by' dates, and take appropriate actions.
- Use kitchen equipment properly, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand the store's layout to locate products when requested.
- Stay current with ads and promotional materials.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
- Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Practice preventive maintenance and notify management of equipment issues.
- Report customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts effectively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
