Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
5. Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
6. Use all bakery equipment following company guidelines.
7. Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Properly prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
10. Check product quality for freshness, review 'sell by' dates, and take appropriate actions.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
12. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
13. Understand store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
14. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
15. Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and suggestions.
16. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and maintain temperature logs.
18. Promote trust and respect among associates.
19. Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel important and appreciated.
20. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
21. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
22. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
23. Report customer or employee accidents to management.
24. Work cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
25. Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
27. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
28. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic math
• Ability to obtain a food handler's permit upon employment
