Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a friendly Bakery Clerk to help keep our bakery stocked, clean, and welcoming. You will assist customers, prepare and replenish baked goods, and work with teammates to deliver a warm, customer-focused experience in a busy store bakery.

No prior experience is required; we provide training and support. This role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy in handling orders, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in a fast-paced bakery setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way.
• Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy bakery environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift
• Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking
• Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable
• Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
