Job summary

El Super is seeking a Bakery Clerk at the San Diego location to deliver friendly service, assist with bakery purchases, and keep displays well stocked. This entry supports a fast-paced grocery environment and includes lifting duties as part of daily tasks.

The role emphasizes customer interaction, teamwork with the Bakery Manager and Baker, and maintaining clean, inviting bakery displays in our store.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery.
• They provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service, assist customers with bakery purchases, maintain clean shelving and display cases, and rotate self‑serve displays.
• Take special orders with customers, coordinate with the Baker on items to be baked or decorated, and help keep the department clean.
