Responsibilities

The Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for:

• Preparing and packaging all baked goods
• Assisting the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising baked goods
• Providing high-level customer service and ensuring bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, presented, and the area remains clean and sanitary
• Maintaining cleanliness and safety of the bakery area and equipment, including cleaning shelves, floors, and removing hazards
• Stocking, filling, facing, and ensuring pricing accuracy; monitoring product rotation and discarding outdated items
• Receiving, inspecting, and logging shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality

Qualifications

To qualify as a Bakery Clerk, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and have 1-2 years of bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
• Be dependable, reliable, and able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Have an outgoing, friendly demeanor with a positive attitude and good communication skills
• Be able to take direction, work in a team, answer phones, and handle special orders
• Perform general housekeeping and sanitation duties in the department
• Operate tools and equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, and hand trucks safely and accurately
• Stand for up to 8 hours, including lifting trays up to 5 lbs. vertically, and items up to 40 lbs. horizontally/vertically for distances up to 36 feet
• Adhere to safety, health, and regulatory standards, and maintain a Food Handlers permit
