Job summary

Northgate Gonzalez Market is seeking a Baker to join our bakery team in Southern California. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of bakery experience, strong bakery math skills, and the ability to read and follow English-language procedures and safety guidelines.

You will prepare dough, bake products, manage inventory, and maintain a clean, safe work environment. Responsibilities include measuring ingredients, loading ovens, assisting with inventory, and greeting customers.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent preferred, but not absolutely required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in full bakery operations and procedures; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Be able to calculate percentages and ratios when measuring ingredients in dough mixtures and recipes.
• Be able to hear, speak and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to pages and assist customers.
• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language to read procedures, safety notices and other documents.
• Ability to fill out forms and compose and write reports.
• Be thoroughly knowledgeable of baking tasks including safety and health considerations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and observe dress regulations; wear hat or hair net and uniform.
• Prepare all dough and scratch baking mixtures in accordance with recipes.
• Pan up frozen products and bake varieties; load, unload oven and operate equipment.
• Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory control of ingredients.
• Monitor and control utility use and uphold cleanliness and health compliance.
• Greet customers and maintain good communications within the department.
• Adhere to safety rules and company health regulations.
