Job description

Amentum is seeking a Baker/Cook I located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. This specific Cook I position requires experience and full knowledge of the baking trade and is responsible for producing baked goods and desserts. When not baking, the Cook I prepares large quantities of food using various cooking methods, including meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, and more.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply full knowledge of the baking trade to produce standard baked goods such as bread, rolls, cakes, cookies, biscuits, muffins, and various types of puddings and ice creams.
  • Follow recipes to efficiently prepare and present all food items, accommodating special requests from guests.
  • Prepare all food items as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pantry and coolers.
  • Communicate the need for goods to be ordered to kitchen leadership.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items.
  • Keep a neat and organized work area, adhering to sanitation standards according to state law and health codes.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance according to company standards.
  • Comply with all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
  • Attend all training and meetings as required.
  • Perform other tasks, including cross-training as directed.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned, planned or unplanned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in baking, preparing, and presenting sweets, desserts, breads, and other bakery items.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Cook/Baker in the restaurant industry.
  • Able to read and follow standardized recipes.
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
  • Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere.
  • ServeSafe Certification preferred.
  • Able to work early mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Able to bend, move, and lift up to 25 pounds or more.
  • Physically able to stand, move, bend, kneel, and lift 25 lbs. or more throughout the shift.
  • Must have valid government-issued clearance at the time of application.
