Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City seeks a Research Technician for the Dong Lab to work on human bacterial pathogens under the PI’s supervision. The role focuses on executing established research procedures, collecting and recording data, and contributing to collaborative projects across the US.

Responsibilities include managing lab inventory, maintaining a laboratory notebook, generating data for publications and grant submissions, and ensuring compliance with biosafety

Qualifications

• 4 years experience in research with bacteria; education may substitute for experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related field
• Experience with PCR, aseptic technique, dilution plating or similar microbiological methods
• Strong organizational and analytical skills

Responsibilities

• Manage lab inventory, ordering and restocking of supplies, reagents and media; maintain records
• Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook documenting calculations, work and experiments
• Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories across the US
• Generate data and documentation for published papers and assist with grant submissions
• Participate in regular PI/lab meetings to discuss experimental design and results and interpretations
