Job Description Summary

The Bose lab seeks a Research Technician to conduct research on human bacterial pathogens.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Research Overview: Under the direct supervision of PI and other research staff, it conducts routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures, and record results.
  • Manage lab inventory including ordering and restocking of supplies as well as other laboratory records.
  • Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information.
  • Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories across the US.
  • Generation of data and documentation of research performed for the preparation of published papers, as well as assistance on grant submissions and other documentation necessary for laboratory compliance.
  • Participate in regular communication with the PI and lab members via lab meetings and to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results.
  • Compliance: Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Immunology Department, understand and follow IACUC and biosafety protocols, and attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Work Experience: Experience with PCR, Western blot, aseptic technique, dilution plating, and other microbiological methods.

Compensation Statement

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
