Job summary

The Dong Lab at University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a Research Technician to conduct research on human bacterial pathogens under the supervision of the PI. You will contribute to data generation for publications and grant submissions, and work closely with experienced staff.

Responsibilities include managing lab inventory, maintaining an up-to-date Laboratory Notebook, and participating in regular lab meetings to interpret results and discuss experimental design.

Qualifications

  • Work Experience: 4 years experience in research with bacteria.
  • Education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Bachelor’s degree Microbiology or related field (preferred).
  • Experience performing PCR, aseptic technique, dilution plating, and other microbiological methods.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of PI and other research staff, conduct routine elements of research work.
  • Manage lab inventory, including ordering and restocking of supplies, reagents, and media, as well as other laboratory records.
  • Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, work, experiments, and other pertinent research information.
  • Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories across the US.
  • Generation of data and documentation of research performed for the preparation of published papers, and assistance on grant submissions.
