Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region is seeking a Backroom Supervisor for its ReStore in Cornelius, NC. The role focuses on supervising backroom operations, ensuring donations are processed, priced, and moved to the sales floor efficiently.

You will work with volunteers and staff, maintaining safety and excellent customer service. The position involves opening/closing the store, cash handling, and potentially operating a forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all items are researched, accurately ticketed and moved to the sales floor.
  • Collaborate with store leadership on priority and placement of incoming donations/merchandise.
  • Coordinate with donation drivers for loading and offloading placements.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for employees, volunteers and customers.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers, motivating the team and ensuring great customer service.
  • Open and close the store with cash handling procedures and accurate end-of-day documentation.

As a Backroom Supervisor in our ReStore, you’ll play an integral role in our vision of a world where everyone has a safe and affordable place to live.**Why Join Habitat?*** Competitive salary and benefits* Industry-leading healthcare, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts (healthcare and dependent care)* Work/life balance supported by generous PTO* Career development and promotion opportunities* Casual working environment* Retirement planning a 403(b) with 3% organizational match**Essential Functions (other duties as assigned):*** Ensure all items are researched, accurately ticketed and safely moved to the sales floor in a timely manner* Collaborate with store leadership regarding the priority, timing, and placement of incoming donations/merchandise* Responsible for working with all donation drivers regarding the loading and offloading placement of donations* Guarantee safe and prompt handling of merchandise and donations according to processes, policies, and procedures* Assist in the receiving of items that are dropped off when assistance is needed on the receiving dock* Provide supervision and a safe and clean environment for employees, volunteers and customers* Be an effective team member when working with staff and volunteers, ensuring the engagement and motivation of others* Assist in ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service* Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with employees, customers, donors, volunteers and the public* Document and conduct Corrective Action as needed* Key-Carrying Supervisor responsible for independently opening and closing the store, and cash handling procedures* Ability to read, count, and accurately complete reports and all end-of-day documentation* Operate a cash register periodically, as needed* Ensure a meaningful volunteer experience* Represent Habitat in a positive manner to all donors, customers and others you come in contact with* Regular and reliable job attendance and adherence to schedule* Dependable transportation to work* Maintain a presentable appearance, including ReStore appropriate attire* Ability to adhere to Habitats Code of Conduct policies and other policies* Habitat of the Charlotte Region-related tasks as requested by supervisor## Qualifications**Education/Skills:*** Basic computer skills* Basic math or POS experience* Strong verbal and written communication skills* Management and Customer Service experience* Show initiative**Physical Requirements:*** Ability to stand for extended periods of time* Ability to move merchandise throughout the store* Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time* Ability to lift 50lbs. with assistance* Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, Saturdays, and periodic holidays* Ability to obtain Forklift Certification and operate a forklift on a regular basis* Ability to climb steps to Forklift cab**Internal Interactions:** Habitat Staff**External Interactions:*** Customers* Volunteers* Donors* Homeowners**Level of Authority:*** Requires minimal supervision* Ability to engage and motivate staff as well as hold team members accountable in conjunction with store management* Report to the Store Manager**Estimated Time Commitment:** 40+ hours/week. Rotating Sunday - Saturday work week.
