Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking a Backhaul Transportation Coordinator to optimize our transportation network and maximize revenue. You will work with Assistant Fleet Managers to identify drivers for backhauls, solicit freight from customers and brokers, and use load boards to find profitable backhaul opportunities.

This role emphasizes system accuracy, rate negotiations, and exemplary service to shippers and brokers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or similar field.
• Familiarity with load boards such as DAT, Internet Truckstop, Truckstop.com.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with ability to build relationships.
• Ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
• Proactive mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Understanding of transportation terminology, pricing, and operations.
• Customer service orientation with professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Identify available drivers for backhaul opportunities with fleet team.
• Coordinate driver schedules to maximize backhaul capacity.
• Negotiate rates with customers and brokers for profitability.
• Use load boards and TMS to match capacity with freight.
• Maintain accurate records of loads, times, rates, and parties.
• Communicate load status and updates to shippers and brokers.
• Ensure DOT compliance and safety requirements are met.
