Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries seeks a Backhaul Transportation Coordinator to optimize our transportation network and reduce empty miles. You will partner with Assistant Fleet Managers to secure backhauls, solicit freight from customers and brokers, and use load boards to find profitable opportunities, driving revenue and service excellence.

This role requires strong negotiation, DOT compliance, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with direct impact on bottom-line

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or similar field.
• Familiarity with load boards such as DAT, Internet Truckstop, Truckstop.com, or similar platforms.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with ability to build relationships with customers and brokers.
• Ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for improvement and revenue growth.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Fleet Managers to identify backhaul opportunities and optimize driver utilization.
• Solicit daily/weekly freight from customers, brokers, and partners to secure backhaul loads.
• Use load boards and TMS to match capacity with freight opportunities.
• Negotiate rates with customers and brokers to maximize profitability.
• Maintain records of backhaul loads, times, rates, and customer details.
