Job summary

Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) is seeking a Backflow and Cross-Connection Coordinator to oversee the program and ensure efficiency and reliability. You will coordinate with multiple teams to monitor installations, inspect sites, and enforce backflow policies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with several years of relevant plumbing and cross-connection experience, plus NC certifications or the ability to obtain them. Competitive pay and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three years of relevant experience in plumbing, backflow prevention, and cross-connection control.
• One year of experience managing a similar project or program.
• Ability to obtain Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester and ORC certifications.
• Valid NC driver's license.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local water quality regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Backflow and Cross Connection Program and other regulatory compliance programs.
• Survey customer water services to assess hazard for contamination.
• Monitor and document new installations; update GIS with backflow details.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding the program.
• Review development plans to ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain OWASA's BSI compliance tracking system.
• Coordinate with ORC and Customer Service to enforce policies and promote compliance.
• Serve as a backup for answering customer calls and dispatching field staff.
