Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma and a valid Connecticut driver’s license.
• Must hold or obtain within 6 months the Connecticut State Department of Public Health license as Cross Connection Tester and Cross Connection Surveyor.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in water utility work or related testing/inspecting; knowledge of service areas and ability to read/mechanically interpret blueprints preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect customer premises and identify cross connection risks; communicate corrective actions and costs; record information.
• Test and repair backflow prevention devices; determine status; document data; notify customers of compliance status; bill for testing, repair, and materials.
• Work with customers, contractors, and local health officials to correct violations and repair devices in a timely manner.
• Maintain knowledge of cross connection control regulations.
• Respond to customer complaints and represent the company on service calls.
• Locate service lines and curb boxes; install new piping and repair existing lines.
• Operate gate valves, fire hydrants, and other appurtenances.
