Job summary

City of Redlands is seeking a Cross Connection Control Technician to administer and inspect the cross-connection control program, conduct field and laboratory testing of backflow prevention devices, and oversee environmental studies related to water quality.

Two years of related experience is preferred; requires a high school diploma, a CA Class C license, and the listed certificates. This is a full-time, on-site role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience performing backflow device testing and maintenance or other water utility mechanical maintenance.
• Possession of Grade I Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade I Backflow Prevention Device Tester Certificate, and Grade II Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate within six months of hire.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid California Class C driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Administer the backflow/testing program and confer with businesses regarding connections; inspect industries for cross-connection compliance.
• Maintain files on test results and prepare reports for state/federal water quality agencies.
• Train personnel to recognize hazards related to cross-connection control; perform annual site surveys.
