Job summary

Superchat is hiring a backend-leaning Tech Lead to guide architecture and delivery for a portion of our product. You will lead a small team of 3–4 engineers, spend half your time designing and building systems, and the rest enabling the team to perform at their best.

You’ll own architecture, supervise code quality, and collaborate closely with product managers to translate customer problems into pragmatic technical solutions. This Berlin-based hybrid role emphasizes hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as Senior/Staff Engineer, still hands-on.
• Strong JVM experience and proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience leading teams (2+ years) and owning architecture.
• Comfort with fast-paced startups and delivering product goals.
• Willingness to work in Berlin hybrid setup.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecture, development, code reviews, and key projects.
• Lead a 3-4 engineer team and drive delivery quality.
• Collaborate with Product Manager to define priorities.
• Set clear technical direction and empower engineers.
• Run 1:1s, give feedback, support growth.
• Identify risks and unblock blockers.
• Explore and apply AI across the lifecycle.
