Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the Data Platform Engineering team. You will drive cross‑team architectural decisions and scale data infrastructure powering patient care for millions of subscribers.

You will own ingestion pipelines, data contracts, and quality gates across Bronze/Silver layers, with a focus on reliable streaming, cloud‑native tooling, and production‑grade code in Python and SQL.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering and platform engineering.
• Experience with real‑time ingestion and CDC patterns.
• Strong background in building and operating large data pipelines.
• Hands‑on dbt in production BigQuery or Databricks environments.
• Proficient in Python and SQL for production data tooling.
• Experience with multi‑cloud (GCP and AWS) environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as DRI for high‑complexity platform initiatives spanning multiple squads.
• Architect and maintain production ingestion pipelines and infrastructure.
• Design and operate event streaming pipelines using Kafka and Databricks.
• Own Bronze/Silver data contracts, schemas, and data quality gates.
• Establish KPIs/SLOs and implement monitoring and on‑call processes.
• Mentor Senior Data Engineers and drive engineering standards adoption.
• Collaborate with Legal, Security, and DevOps on compliance controls.
