Job summary

Quantum Technologies. LLC is seeking a Software Engineer in Newark, NY for a 12-month engagement. The role focuses on designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting scalable software using Python and Java, REST APIs, microservices, and modern web technologies.

You will work with cloud platforms, Linux, Docker, and CI/CD in an Agile/Scrum environment, collaborating with product, quality, and data teams to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• Design and develop backend services, REST APIs, and microservice-based apps with Python and/or Java.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB or similar databases.
• Proficient with Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms, Linux.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services, REST APIs, and modular or microservice-based applications using Python and/or Java.
• Design data access layers and integrations for PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, or comparable databases.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code using object-oriented design, SOLID principles, defensive validation, and appropriate error handling.
• Create unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews, defect resolution, release readiness, and production support.
• Containerize and deploy applications using Docker and CI/CD pipelines across cloud or Linux environments.
• Use Git, Maven, Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, and Jira to support development, documentation, testing, and delivery tracking.
• Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams and communicate technical tradeoffs, delivery risks, dependencies, and progress.
