Job summary

Commerce is expanding its backend team to power BigCommerce storefronts with scalable services and GraphQL API enhancements. You will work with product managers and partner teams to shape requirements and deliver solutions, including AI-driven shopping features.

Based in the Atlanta metro area, the role follows a hybrid model with three days per week in the office. Candidates should have 3+ years of production backend experience and a relevant degree.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building backend services that run in production.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE/SW/CE/MIS or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Scala or Kotlin preferred; other languages welcome to learn Scala.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features in the service that powers every BigCommerce storefront, collaborating with PMs and partner teams.
• Add and extend GraphQL Storefront API queries and fields.
• Help evolve storefront service to support AI-driven shopping.
• Investigate and fix production issues, improving performance and reliability.
• Review code and grow design skills through pairing with senior engineers.
