Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a backend engineer to own key money-movement projects within the Money Movement team. You will design and deploy stablecoin-based pay-ins, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals, enabling fast, secure transfers across the Coinbase ecosystem.

This role emphasizes collaboration with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs, while improving performance and reliability of distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building and operating backend systems, fintech/payments/crypto.
• Proficiency in Go or Java and cloud infra (AWS/GCP).
• Experience designing distributed systems and APIs.
• Experience with blockchain or crypto tech like stablecoins/on-chain payments.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end projects as the Directly Responsible Individual, driving money-movement features from design to production.
• Build backend systems and internal/external APIs enabling stablecoin payments.
• Partner with Product, Design, Infrastructure and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Improve performance, scalability and reliability across distributed systems.
• Contribute to engineering quality through code reviews and best practices.
