Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a backend software engineer to help build the infrastructure powering the future of digital payments. You will design and operate services for stablecoin-based pay-ins, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals, enabling fast, secure transfers across the Coinbase ecosystem.

Own end-to-end projects as the Directly Responsible Individual, collaborate with product, design, infra, and compliance, and drive performance, scalability, and reliability in distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems in fintech, payments, or crypto.
• Proficiency in backend languages (Go, Java) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
• Experience designing distributed systems and APIs for scale.
• Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for technical projects end-to-end.
• Experience with blockchain/crypto tech like stablecoins, on-chain payments, or smart contracts.

Responsibilities

• Own key projects end-to-end as the Directly Responsible Individual, driving stablecoin-based money movement features from design to production deployment.
• Build backend systems, infrastructure, and APIs enabling embedding stablecoin-powered payments.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems and identify bottlenecks.
• Contribute to engineering quality via code reviews and architectural patterns.
