Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our engineering team in California. You will design, implement, and operate our most critical and scalable services, from identity to friend graph and core persistence.

You will work with multiple teams to translate product requirements into robust, high-quality systems, evaluate trade-offs, and apply best practices for availability, scalability, and security, with emphasis on AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• 2+ years of post‑Bachelor’s software development experience or advanced degree with related experience
• Experience working with distributed systems

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate our most critical and scalable services (identity, friend graph, core persistence)
• Collaborate across teams to translate product requirements into robust solutions
• Evaluate, test, and debug to ensure high quality and security
• Advocate for availability, scalability, and cost-aware practices
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development while auditing for architecture and performance
