Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, implement, and operate our most critical scalable services—ranging from user identity to the core persistence layer.

You will collaborate across teams to translate product needs into reliable systems, test deeply, and push for high availability and cost efficiency. Required: BS in CS or equivalent, and experience with Java, C++, or Python; familiarity with NoSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, and cloud services.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience.
• Experience coding in industry-standard languages (e.g. Java, Kotlin, Swift, Python, C++).
• Experience with backend services or distributed systems.
• Ability to independently execute on medium-sized features over a few weeks with multiple PRs.
• Ability to understand operational aspects and participate in incident/hotfix resolution.
• Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
• Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at scale.
