Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, implement, and operate our most critical services at scale, from user identity to the core persistence layer.

You will work across teams to translate product requirements into robust solutions. You should have experience with backend services or distributed systems, the ability to own mid-sized features over several weeks, and a track record of operating highly available systems.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Experience coding in Java, Kotlin, Swift, Python or C++.
• Experience with backend or distributed systems.
• Ability to own medium-sized features over a few weeks and multiple PRs.
• Strong collaboration and incident resolution experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate critical, scalable services (identity, friend graph, core persistence).
• Collaborate across teams to translate product requirements into robust solutions.
• Test, debug, and maintain high-quality code with a focus on reliability.
• Advise on availability, scalability, and cost management.
