Job summary

Overland AI in Seattle, Washington is looking for a Backend Engineer to build the APIs and integrations that connect our robotic systems to C2 platforms. You will own services that translate, route, and sync data for real-time operations with external C2 systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience building backend systems.
• Python programming with asyncio and typing.
• Production APIs using FastAPI.
• Experience integrating with TAK and Cursor on Target and other C2 systems.
• Proficiency in C++, Go, or Rust.
• Solid networking fundamentals and serialization formats (XML, Protobuf, JSON).
• A BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain C2 interface services ingesting, transforming, and publishing real-time telemetry and tasking messages.
• Develop and maintain REST and streaming APIs with FastAPI for internal and external consumers.
• Map internal data models to external schemas and protocols, handling versioning and validation.
• Ensure integrations withstand degraded networks, reconnects, and high message rates.
• Build test harnesses and simulators to verify integrations without live C2 infra.
• Support field tests, customer demos, and integration events.
