Job summary

GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Backend Engineer on the Platform Readiness team within Developer Experience. You will build and maintain agentic workflow components, contribute to requirements schemas, and integrate surfaces across issues, merge requests, design docs, and CI/CD pipelines.

You will collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Data teams, write clear documentation, and help ship features reliably across GitLab's four deployment targets while growing in a fast-paced,

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience with backend focus.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node, Python, or Golang.
• Comfort reading and contributing to schemas (YAML, JSON Schema) and structured content.
• Experience with and operational exposure to Kubernetes and reasoning about failure modes.
• Ability to work asynchronously and communicate clearly in writing.
• Exposure to and experience with LLM APIs, prompts, or agentic frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain agentic workflow components on the Duo Agent Platform.
• Contribute to the platform requirements knowledge base and evolve the schema.
• Build integration surfaces to engage the Platform Readiness team across tools (issues, MR, design docs, CI/CD).
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Data to translate expertise into artifacts.
• Write clear documentation and evaluations to validate agentic-workflow behavior.
