Job summary

Averity is seeking a Back-End Engineer in New York to join the core product engineering team. You will build and scale backend services with Node.js and TypeScript, design REST APIs, and own features from design to production.

You’ll work across high-traffic consumer platforms, tackle performance with caching and CDNs, and shape a cloud-first service architecture. Collaboration with frontend, product, design and data teams is essential, with exposure to AI tooling like Claude and Copilot.

Qualifications

• Strong production experience with Node.js and TypeScript on the backend.
• Experience designing and building scalable APIs.
• Strong backend architecture and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with high-volume applications, caching and CDNs.
• Cloud infrastructure experience.
• Ability to clearly articulate the systems and products they’ve built.
• Self-directed engineer who thrives on a small team with ownership.
• Experience with AWS serverless architecture, MongoDB and Fastly is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale backend services in Node.js / TypeScript.
