Job summary

onXmaps, Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer with a passion for building reliable, well‑tested backend services that solve user problems. Your focus will be on the shared platform infrastructure behind content experimentation, event tracking, and app‑start fidelity.

You will join the Growth Infrastructure team supporting Growth engineering across Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, and Fish, reporting to the Growth Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in API development.
• Willingness to travel quarterly to corporate offices or Basecamps.
• Permanent US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable backend services for Growth Infrastructure.
• Write unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
• Participate in architectural discussions and propose designs.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and cross-functional teams.
• Leverage existing onX services and apply AI workflows to increase velocity.
• Participate in on-call rotation for backend services.
