Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Software Engineer III for the Developer Portal team in Mountain View, CA. You will design and ship self-service features, own API contracts and data models, and build secure authentication/authorization for external developers.

You'll work on a backend-leaning full-stack stack (Java Spring Boot, Ruby, Node.js) with Next.js/React frontend, tying APIs and user interfaces together for a seamless onboarding experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience building/operating production backend services.
• Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs with modern frameworks.
• Deep experience with relational databases and complex SQL migrations.
• Experience designing REST API contracts with versioning/OpenAPI.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React for customer-facing features.
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect identity standards.
• Ability to drive small-to-medium technical initiatives across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Developer Portal features end-to-end (API contracts, DB schema, frontend integration, deployment).
• Own data models and REST API contracts, ensuring backwards compatibility.
• Build secure authentication/authorization capabilities across OAuth/OpenID Connect and SSO.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Architecture and Platform teams for coherent developer experience.
• Lead cross-team coordination and deliver features with minimal disruption to customers.
