Job summary

ID.me is seeking a Software Engineer III for the Developer Portal team in Mountain View, CA. You will design and ship backend and frontend features, focusing on self-service developer onboarding and secure identity capabilities.

Responsibilities include end-to-end feature work, API contract ownership, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes Java/Spring Boot and React/TypeScript stacks with AI-assisted tooling. On-site five days in Mountain View.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of professional software development experience building and operating production backend services.
• Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs using a modern web framework (Java Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, Node.js).
• Deep experience with relational databases and complex SQL with safe migrations.
• Experience designing REST API contracts with versioning and OpenAPI-like specs.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React and shipping customer-facing features.
• Familiarity with authentication/authorization concepts (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect).
• Demonstrated ability to drive small-to-medium technical initiatives cross-team.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tooling and AI-first engineering culture.
• Strong communication and collaboration across Product, Design, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Developer Portal capabilities end-to-end.
• Own the data models and REST API contracts with versioning.
• Build secure Developer Portal capabilities spanning OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
• Partner with Product, Design, Architecture, and platform teams to clarify requirements.
• Coordinate across teams to land features safely and scale the platform.
