Job summary

Affirm is hiring a software engineer to design, build, and operate backend systems using Python or Kotlin, with a strong emphasis on distributed architectures and AWS-based services. You will collaborate across product, design, and analytics, write clean tests, and own components end-to-end.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of software engineer experience.
• Proficient in backend design, development and deployment using Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Able to translate business problems into multi-component solutions with well-tested code.
• Comfortable navigating large codebases and providing code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects into tasks and deliver in phases with timely collaboration.
• Collaborate with product/design/analytics across lifecycle and manage trade-offs.
• Contribute to operations and availability of artifacts, monitor metrics, and support on-call efforts.
• Support team growth and participate in interview processes.
