Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company offering a flexible, scalable payment platform. As a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and launch backend services using Python or Kotlin, with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes, across a distributed system.

You will collaborate with product, design, analytics and operations to deliver reliable systems and meaningful customer outcomes for Affirm's growing product suite. This role requires 1.5+ years of experience and a BS or equivalent in a related field.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems.
• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Able to navigate large code bases, debug, and contribute via code reviews.
• Shows ownership of growth, seeks feedback from teammates and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks and deliver in phases.
• Collaborate with product, design & analytics throughout the lifecycle.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts, monitor metrics, escalate when needed.
