Job summary

Toast is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Payments team, contributing to a unified payment processing platform for restaurants. You will design, build and maintain high-performance microservices, collaborating with Product Managers and engineers to deliver scalable, secure backend systems.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience designing and implementing robust backend services using Kotlin and/or Java.
Demonstrated experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies.
Understanding of backend architecture patterns, including microservices, monolithic, and event-driven architectures.
Experience developing scalable, secure, and performant backend systems.
Understanding of testing principles, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing.

Responsibilities

Be part of a team working collaboratively with Product Managers and other engineers designing, building and maintaining high performance, flexible and highly scalable microservices.
