Job summary

Peregrine Advisors in Washington, DC seeks a backend engineer to build the secure, scalable API layer powering federal workflows. You will create Python services and REST APIs (FastAPI or similar) running on AWS, with PostgreSQL data stores and robust authentication.

You thrive shipping working prototypes quickly, own outcomes, and work in a regulated federal environment where security and auditability matter. Hybrid role with regular DC commuting.

Qualifications

• Strong Python and hands-on experience building secure REST APIs (FastAPI or similar) on AWS.
• Backend fundamentals: PostgreSQL, authentication and access control, and clean, automated delivery.
• Experience building in a regulated federal environment where security and auditability are not optional.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and REST APIs in Python and FastAPI that power federal workflows.
• Leverage AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, S3) and PostgreSQL for data and identity management.
• Deliver secure, auditable backend systems with automated deployment.
