Job summary

Peregrine Advisors is seeking a data scientist to transform client data into analytic processes and outcomes, framing questions with mission owners and building models in Python and SQL on AWS/Azure platforms. You will design robust evaluations, turn notebooks into repeatable pipelines, and present findings to inform decisions.

You will work in a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC area, collaborating with a team of data scientists, engineers, and strategists on mission-critical initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applied data science or statistical modeling experience
• Strong working command of Python and SQL
• Working knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and model validation
• Familiarity with cloud-based data and analytics services on AWS
• Ability to carry an analysis from question to defensible, documented answer
• Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel

Responsibilities

• Transform client data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured – into analytic processes and outcomes
• Frame analytical questions with the owners and turn them into designs that can be tested
• Build analyses and models in Python and SQL using cloud-native data platforms hosted in AWS or Azure
• Design the evaluation that provides the evidence a model is fit for a client environment: baselines, error analyses, and documented limits
• Hardening notebooks into repeatable, reviewed analytical pipelines; present findings clearly to decision-makers
