Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Washington, DC to develop and maintain complex software systems. This backend-focused role emphasizes Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and scalable data-driven solutions for mission-critical environments.

You will design, implement, and optimize API connections, contribute to system architecture, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a secure, on-site setting. Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph and U.S. citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance.
• Backend developer with experience.
• Experience in data engineering and API development.
• Experience building scalable systems with Python and FastAPI.
• Experience designing and managing PostgreSQL databases with efficient SQL and indexing.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Proficiency in FastAPI.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL.
• Experience building high-performance API connections between high-speed, high-volume, mission-critical, data-sensitive systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems supporting analytics and real-time data processing.
• Provide input to software component design, including trade-offs and requirements analysis.
• Design, implement, and integrate software applications and tasks.
• Apply software engineering methodologies appropriate to the environment.
• Ensure efficient delivery of software capabilities using standards and repeatable processes.
• Mitigate risks, control costs and schedule variance for large-scale projects.
• Review and test software components and document results.
